There were things that were good in the church at Thyatira and there were men who were faithful to the Lord... but there was much that was unbiblical and many of their members entered into immorality and idolatry - having a form of godliness and yet denying the Lord Who bought them.

When a body of believers or denomination chooses to compromise the truth of the glorious gospel of grace, we identify a church that corrupts its members and cannot maintain the truth. And so, despite some good works, love, service, and faith... the gross participation in pagan practices that persisted in this church at Thyatira continues to this present day. They were warned that they would be thrown into a bed of great tribulation if they did not repent of their sins... they were warned that they should harken to this admonition.

Thyatira (which means continuous sacrifice), had apparently abandoned the truth that Christ was offered, once and for all, upon the Cross. Even to this day, certain denominations deny that the full and final payment for sin was made on Calvary's Cross. The Thyatiran church had adopted a false religious system, with secret doctrines, legalist rites, priestly absolution, and suffocating indulgencies, which placed its members in slave-like bondage to this corrupt and ungodly system of religion. Sadly, this practice continues to this day.

But we discover a faithful remnant within this church who had not been seduced into their ungodly philosophies, nor initiated into the secret doctrines or esoteric traditions of this religious system. And God, in His grace, did not demand anything more of this little company than to hold fast to the truth of God's Word. The Lord did not add anything to the burden these Christians already carried... other than to hold fast to the truth of the gospel of grace - until Christ's return.

"To the one who overcomes, and keeps My deeds until the end, I will give authority over the nations," was the precious promise that the Lord Jesus gave to that faithful little flock, in the church at Thyatira. To those who would not compromise the gospel of God's Word, but cleave to the truth and faithfully carry out the will of the Lord, was promised a place of authority over the nations in the Millennial Kingdom of Christ.

The Jezebel spirit that permeated the infrastructure of this church, and continues to infect all who reject the truth of God for this lie of Satan, is the sin of rebellion. This evil spirit of Jezebel is not only connected with witchcraft but also has its satanic roots intertwined with the secret mysteries of various clandestine, 'illuminated' societies who continue to undermine the gospel of God to this very day.

Praise God that in every area of Christendom, there are those that hold fast to biblical truth and reject the extra-biblical mysteries and philosophies, that too often captivate the minds of those that are not strong in the faith. We pray that God would open their eyes to the truth of His Word and that many who have been caught up in false, religious teachings today, would reject the poisonous doctrine of the church at Thyatira (which continues to crucify Christ within their daily incantations), and hold fast until the Lord's return so that they too may receive authority over the nations in the coming kingdom of Christ.

Christ did indeed die for our sin, but Christ is alive and He is risen from the grave... and is seated on the right hand of the one and only Holy Father, on His glorious throne, in heavenly places.

Holy and Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us the true gospel in Your Word. I pray for those who are enslaved to the false doctrines of Thyatira - with their secret teachings, legalist rites, priestly absolution, suffocating indulgencies, and other unbiblical practices. Expose those that teach falsely and open the eyes of those that have been subjected to their suffocating effects. I pray that as we wait for Christ's any-day return, I will hold fast to the faith, until His appearing. In His name I pray, AMEN.
