What Does Romans 1:28 Mean?

And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper,

Romans 1:28(NASB)

Verse of the Day

The glory of the Lord is displayed in the heavens giving irrefutable evidence of God's creative hand, and yet fallen man rejects this vast and wonderful display of His majestic, creative power. The true Light of God that brightly shone for 33 years in a fallen world is seen in the face of Jesus Christ, Who "gives light to everyone that comes into the world." Yet sinful man rejects this undeniable Truth.

From the very beginning, man was given clear and incontrovertible knowledge of his holy and righteous Creator, for Paul tells us that man was "created in righteousness and true holiness." Within His inner being, man was made with an innate sense of justice and an understanding of right from wrong, for we read that man was created: "In the image and likeness of God. and that He has "planted eternity within the human heart."

God's divinity and His divine goodness is clearly understood "by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead." However, the majority of mankind chooses to directly disregard His divine authority so that "the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth," by means of their unrighteous choices, denying the Truth, and rejecting God's amazing offer of salvation.

God's gracious gift of salvation by grace through faith in the shed blood of Christ for the remission of sin, has been made available to all. God in His love and justice poured out His undiluted, furious wrath upon His only begotten Son so that whosoever believes in Him, by faith in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, might not perish but have everlasting life.

We should not be ashamed of the glorious gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation for all who believe, and yet the majority of mankind reject His gracious offer of salvation by grace through faith and pour scorn on the irrefutable, undeniable, incontrovertible evidences of His divine majesty.

For 6000 years through creation, conscience, and the Cross of Christ, mankind has been offered peace with God through the shed blood of our Kinsman-Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ. Sadly, most have denied the Truth, refused the Light, and rejected God's free gift of eternal life and the forgiveness of sins. And for this reason, the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteous men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness.

Those who profess themselves to be wise become utter fools with a good-for-nothing, reprobate, degenerate mind when they say in their heart: "There is no God!" Since they have not seen fit to acknowledge their Creator and have substituted His true glory for gods of their own choosing, God has given them over to a good-for-nothing, reprobate, degenerate, and debased mind, which they themselves have chosen to adopt.

When the irrefutable, undeniable, and incontrovertible glory of God is revealed from heaven - but rejected - then the great and terrible wrath of God is revealed against all ungodliness: "Since they did not see fit to acknowledge God in truth - and so He gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done."

Man is indeed without excuse.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for revealing Your glory to me through Your creation. Thank You for making man in Your image and likeness, and for supplying me with my God-given, innate sense of goodness and justice, so that I may understand right from wrong and choose to do what is good, in the power of the Holy Spirit. But thank You most of all, for sending the Lord Jesus to be my Kinsman Redeemer, to pay the price for my sins, and for receiving the punishment that I justly deserve. Keep me ever mindful of Your goodness and grace toward me and all the children of men. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.
