What Does Revelation 19:16 Mean?

And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, "KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."

Revelation 19:16(NASB)

Verse of the Day

A day is coming when Christ will judge the world in righteousness and all His judgements are faithful and true, for He is the express image of the invisible God Who has united justice with peace - and His everlasting name is the 'Word of God'.

He is the express image of the invisible God and the full radiance of God's glory. He is the exact representation of His eternal being Who sustains all things by the might of His powerful Word. Christ is the full expression of the Almighty God and has become God's true Representative to man, and yet He is also the perfect Mediator Who, by grace through faith in Him, represents man to God. Christ speaks from God to man while Jesus represents man to God.

He is the Word made flesh Who tabernacled among His people for a brief season, to carry out the will of God through His sacrificial death and resurrected life, in order to break the power of sin and death in the lives of all who believe in Him. And although He was despised and rejected by those He came to save, He is soon to return to this Christ-rejecting sinful world as King of kings and Lord of lords, to put right all wrongs and to tread the winepress of God's wrath on a world that has rebelled against their Creator-God.

He is the One who has broken down the sin-barrier that separated man from God, and He is the One Who has made His Heavenly Father known to the human race. In Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily and through Him, the gates of heaven have been thrown wide open to whosoever will. God has become knowable through Jesus Christ - and yet He is incomprehensible and has a Name that is so awesome that it is known only to Him. His ways are so much higher than our ways and His thoughts than our thoughts - and yet in Him we have intimacy with the Father, we have the mind of Christ through faith, and we have the indwelling Spirit of God.

He is a God like no other god for He was born into His own creation and became a man, yet without sin. He is a Man like no other man, for He is God incarnate Who identified with our human weaknesses, and is the Word made flesh.

He is the King of all kings whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom which will begin with His millennial reign and will stretch into the eternal ages to come, and He is the Lord of all lords Who will rule the world in righteousness and will judge the nations with equity, truth, and an iron sceptre. And one day every knee will bow before Him and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord - to the glory of God the Father.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, how I praise and thank You for Your plan of redemption and for the wonderful way that You tell us the beginning from the end. Thank You that Jesus is not only my Almighty, powerful King, but He is also my Saviour. What amazing love He has for me, to choose to die in my place so that I could be redeemed by His blood and rule and reign with Him in glory. To Him be all honour and glory, forever and ever, AMEN.
