What Does Matthew 24:35 Mean?

"Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.

Matthew 24:35(NASB)

Verse of the Day

The Word of the Lord stands fast for ever and ever and every aspect of God's Word is rooted and grounded in the Person and Work of the Lord Christ - the incarnate Son of God.

He is the eternal Word, Who was made in the likeness of mortal man. He is the crucified, risen, ascended and glorified Lord.. Who at the appointed time was manifest in the flesh, so that all who trust in Him for salvation would not perish, but have everlasting life.

Jesus said earlier in His ministry that not one jot or tittle of the Law would pass away until all things have been accomplished.. and in many respects Jesus came to fulfil both the Word of the Lord and the Work of the Law.

Jesus came as the fulfilment of many psalms and prophecies that were foretold in the days of old by holy men of God. but there are still many prophetic scriptures that are waiting to be fulfilled at His second coming or during His millennial rule on earth.. as King of kings and Lord of lords.

The scriptures tell us that heaven and earth will eventually pass away - for by the word of the Lord the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for that day of judgment, and the destruction of ungodly men - when death and hell will be fully, finally and forever defeated - for God is making a new heaven and a new earth, which will be the resting-place of righteousness for the first heaven and the first earth will pass away, as foretold by the Word of the Lord.

Heaven and earth will one day pass away, for this world has been contaminated by sin.. but the pure Words of the Lord Jesus are perfect. They are life and light to fallen man and will never, ever pass away.. for the Words of the Lord are pure words. They are likened to silver, which is tried in a furnace on the earth and refined seven times.

The grass withers, the flower fades, and the first heaven and the first earth will one day pass away.. but the Word of our God stands fast forever and the Words of His Christ endure for ever and ever.

The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul. The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart. The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever. The judgments of the Lord are true - they are righteous altogether. The promises of the Lord are 'Yes' and 'Amen' in Christ Jesus - and the Words of the Lord will never ever fail. Praise His holy name.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, Thank You that Jesus is the risen ascended and glorified Word of God, Whose words will never fail. Thank You that Jesus is the living Word of God, Whose promises stand fast for ever and ever. Thank You that no matter what happens in this world and no matter what trials and tribulations I may face - I pray that I may hold fast to Your Word of truth which can never fail. Thank You in Jesus name, AMEN
