Ephesians 1:22(HCSB)

Verse of the Day

Because we are in Christ and have become members of His Body, we have been lavished with all kinds of spiritual blessings, by grace through faith.

Because of His willing obedience to live in total dependence on the Father and become our sin substitute at Calvary, the Lord Jesus has been given a name that is above every name and He has been given a position that is far above all principalities and power - not only in this age but also throughout the eternal ages to come. And we who have trusted Him as Saviour have been baptised into Christ and become members of His Body, which is the Church.

The sacrificial death of Christ paid the penalty for our sin, but His glorious Resurrection broke the power of sin and death in our lives, for we were made a new creation in Christ and given a new life in Him. By His grace we were given His indwelling, holy life, in the Person of the Holy Spirit.

Christ's finished work at Calvary not only disarmed the rulers, authorities, principalities, and powers, but God placed Him in the position of ultimate authority and universal control and put all things in subjection under His feet.

The first Adam lost dominion over the earth which was entrusted to him when he sought to be independent of God and sinned, but Christ lived His life in total dependence upon the Father and learned obedience through the things that He suffered. He died to pay the price for our sins but He rose again to give us His life - eternal life and life more abundantly.

God demonstrated His immeasurable authority and unlimited power when He raised Christ (our sin-substitute) from the dead, and seated Him at His own right hand in glory, far above all principalities and powers - not only in time but throughout eternity.

God loved the world so much that He gave His Son to die, but Christ loved the Church so much that He gave Himself for her. And God put all things in subjection under His feet and made Him head over all things for the benefit of the Church. And Christ's headship, in His grace, is being exercised through you and me, for by grace through faith we are members of His mystic Body.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You that the very power that raised Jesus from the dead, is available to all the members of His Body. Thank You that by His death and Resurrection, Christ has won victory over sin and death for me and for all who trust in His name. Thank You that Christ triumphed over every principality and power and that His victory is not only future but can be accessed today, when we depend on Him and walk by faith. Help me to live in humble obedience and dependence on Christ so that I may experience His grace and peace in every area of my life today. In Jesus' name, AMEN.
