What Does Ephesians 1:11 Mean?

also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will,

Ephesians 1:11(NASB)

Verse of the Day

The first chapter of Ephesians is weighed down and running over with countless spiritual blessings in heavenly places, which God our Father has freely given to us by grace through faith in His only begotten Son.

He chose us before the foundation of the world. He adopted and accepted us in Christ Jesus our Lord. He redeemed us from slavery to sin and forgave us all our sins, and He also revealed to us who have been made His children, by grace through faith, the glorious mystery of His will.

And here in this verse we discover another stunning reality - that because of our union with Christ, we not only have a wonderful inheritance reserved for us in heaven, but are also part of God's own inheritance.

God paid the highest price to purchase our souls and to redeem our life from destruction. The price that He paid was the precious blood of His dearly beloved Son.

God knows all things, past, present, and future, and in His eternal wisdom He knows all who will choose to trust in the Son of His love, by grace through faith. He has predestined them, in the eternal council chamber of His will, to become His children, inheritors of the kingdom, joint-heirs with Christ, and His own valued inheritance.

I don't understand why God should choose to redeem you and me - but I believe it to be true.

My Prayer

Father of all, what a glorious inheritance I have in Christ, by grace through faith. Thank You that you have redeemed my life from death and have made me to be part of Your own inheritance in the saints. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.
