fixing our attention on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of the faith, who, in view of the joy set before him, endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:2(ISV)
For all of eternity, Christ is in the bosom of the Father, exchanging love and being loved. He is forever the Beloved Son of the Father, in Whom God is well pleased. The mutual love within the Trinity is incomprehensible to mere human beings, and yet for three very significant hours of deep darkness, Christ was separated from the Father He loved so dearly, and the Spirit Who had been the ever-present Lover of His soul throughout His earthly life.
No surprise that He twice cried out, "My God, My God. WHY have You forsaken me?" And Christ endured the Cross, the pain, the humiliation and the devastating separation from the Father and the Spirit, in obedience to God's perfect will – for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son so that you and I might be forgiven and live in eternal union and communion with Him, forever.
Because we simply believed in this finished work, we were catapulted into the family of God and His eternal kingdom, clothed in His righteousness, made to sit in heavenly places, and given an inheritance eternally secured in heaven for us. Should we not both joyously and humbly fix our eyes on Jesus? Should we not, thankfully and in continuous wonder and praise, keep on fixing our eyes on the Lord Jesus Christ? Should we not fall on our faces in submission to His guiding holy Spirit and cry out, "Thy will not mine be done?" Should we not trust Him implicitly, knowing that Christ is both the Alpha and Omega of our lives?
He is the Beginning and the End of all we are and all we need. He is the Source of all we are and the Goal to which we are racing. He is the Author and Finisher of our life of faith, the Pioneer and the Perfecter of all we believe, for it was CHRIST that endured the Cross, disregarding its shame for the joy that was set before Him, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
And you and I are included within that eternal, 'JOY'. Hallelujah! What a Saviour!
Heavenly Father, praise Your Holy name that Jesus went to the Cross and endured its suffering and separation for my sake. Thank You that even in His agony He counted it as joy because His work would save my soul. Thank You that His work is finished, and salvation is free to all who trust, by faith alone, in Christ alone. May I forever and ever keep Jesus as the centre and circumference of my life and faith. In His precious name I pray, AMEN.
