What Does John 17:14 Mean?

"I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

John 17:14(NASB)

Verse Thoughts

God loved the world so much that He gave us His only begotten Son. He gave us the Word – the Word made flesh – the Word Who was God of God and Light of Light. And the Word came to tabernacle among us, to live as one of us. He came as Man born of a woman – God of God yet Man of man born into our sinful race as one of us, so that He could be the propitiation for our sins and demonstrate the love of God towards us.

Christ also loved the Church so much that He gave Himself up for us - to make us holy, cleansing us by the washing with water through the Word. And Christ, the living Word of God was made flesh so that He could fully reveal the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom the Father sent – for the Word of God is the gracious gift of God to us all.

Christ spoke only the words that were given to Him by the Father and He gave those precious words to His disciples – and His chosen apostles would record those words in the holy Word of God, for our learning. Christ spoke only those words to us that were given to Him by the Father, that we might KNOW that He is the Christ the Son of the living God… and in Him have life and have it more abundantly.

God spoke the world into being by His WORD and His Word was manifest in the flesh as a precious gift from the Father. May the Word of God dwell in us richly. May the Word of God give us wisdom and understanding, and may the Word of God guide us into all truth and fill our lives to overflowing

My Prayer

Loving Father, we love and worship You for Your great and gracious love in sending us the Lord Jesus, so that we could receive Your Word in our hearts, by faith in the Lord Jesus, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.
