What Does 2 Peter 3:4 Mean?

and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation."

2 Peter 3:4(NASB)

Verse of the Day

We live in a world that has systematically eliminated the Creator and His Christ from every area of national, governmental, educational, social, scientific, and family life, and replaced it with a flawed system of rationalism and relative thinking.

Not only is God blasphemed and scorned in all the corridors of power at home and abroad, the Biblical prophecies of Christ's return to judge the world are treated with scorn, mockery, and complete disdain.

The primary area that is treated with this fiery contempt is connected with the soon return of Christ to judge a God-rejecting sinful world, and the cry that is on the lips of the vast majority of scoffers is: "Where is the promise of His coming?" The coming of Christ is considered to be an out-dated, foolish fairy tale that is being propagated by a few ignorant fundamentalist Christians.

The never-ending rhythm of life and the continuous cycle of the seasons and years is based on the incorrect hypothesis that: "Since the fathers fell asleep, everything continues the same, since the beginning of creation." Creation is also relegated into the realm of a foolish fantasy of a few fundamentalists as the world embraces 'the big bang theory'.

Man has become willingly ignorant of the many occasions when God has stepped into the pages of history to forward His eternal plans and purposes. Many base their skepticism on incomplete scientific investigation and a flawed theory of evolution. But the truth is, the Creator of the world Who deluged the earth with a global flood, sent His only begotten Son to die on a Cross 2000 years ago for the sin of the whole world.

God is not mocked, for His truth is everlasting, His Word stands sure for ever and ever, and one day the Man, Christ Jesus, will judge the world in righteousness. And every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, the world is willingly ignorant of the glorious gospel of grace and Christ’s astonishing, atoning sacrifice for sin. People scoff and mock at the predictions of His return to judge the world in righteousness. Lord, I plead Your mercy on all who mock and scorn the truth of Your Word and pray that some would be brought to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ Who died to save all who trust in Him as Saviour. I pray this in Jesus' precious name, AMEN.
