What Does 2 Peter 3:2 Mean?

that you should remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles.

2 Peter 3:2(NASB)

Verse of the Day

The apostle Peter stresses the importance of the Word of God in the life of all believers, knowing that Christendom is awash with false teachers, doctrines of demons, and a willing ignorance of the truth of Scripture.

How important it is to remember the God-breathed predictions of the Lord's holy prophets of the Old Testament, and how necessary to recollect the words, wisdom, and warnings of the Lord Jesus Himself, which has been recorded for our learning, our correction, and our training in righteousness by God's appointed apostles, as recorded in New Testament Scriptures.

As Christians, we should not be swayed by profane denials of the truth of God's Word. We should not be influenced by an arrogant and blasphemous world that is at enmity with God, devoid of spiritual understanding, and openly scornful the truth of Scripture. Nor should we be taken in by the multitudes of self-proclaimed prophets who profess to have extra-biblical knowledge and a singular and undisclosed understanding of God's Word, beyond the inspired Scriptures.

Let us cling to the Word of truth which was spoken beforehand by the holy prophets, and let us remember the commandment of our Lord and Saviour, as spoken by His appointed apostles and recorded in the Word of God.

Let us remember that the Bible is the only safeguard against false teachers, doctrines of demons, extra-biblical revelation, and a world that is in willing ignorance of the whole council of our Creator God.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You that Christ died for me and rose again the third day so that I might be reconciled to You. Thank You that You have revealed Your Word of truth to all Your children through Your holy prophets and apostles, for our learning, correction, and training in righteousness. Help me to cleave to the truth of Scripture and not to be influenced by false teachers, doctrines of demons, and extra-biblical revelation. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.
