Proverbs 1:7

The wise man is the one who develops a teachable spirit and is ready, willing, and anxious to learn. The fear of the Lord and reverence for His holy name is the foundation upon which each one of us should build our lives, for fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, the foundation of knowledge, and the gateway to truth. It is the key to spiritual insight and the singular requisite for godly instruction in righteousness.

Proverbs 1:8

The Bible talks a lot about hearing and listening, and very frequently it links wisdom with those that listen and credits discernment to those that hear. Scripture encourages us to have ears to hear and calls upon each one of us to pay attention to what the Spirit says to the churches. It reminds us that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of the Lord. It warns of the dangers of being blind to the truth and deaf to God's Word.
