And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Matthew 6:13(KJV)

Today's Verse

When we pray we are called to be sincere in our prayers and to pray into the will of God, for He will not answer insincere or selfish prayers that conflict with His nature and will.

The pattern of prayer that Jesus taught His disciples, was to demonstrate that we should reverence Him as our Father in heaven, glorify His holy name, and pray into His perfect plan, His heavenly purpose, and His eternal will.

He taught us to depend on Him implicitly for all our physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs, and to seek His forgiveness of our sins as we reflect His forgiving nature in all our interactions with others.

But He also called us to pray: "Lead us not into temptation." And although we know that God never 'tempts' His children, He uses the trials and temptations of life to test our confidence in Him, encouraging us to depend upon Him and not on ourselves when we face the trials and temptations in life.

And we are also to ask the Lord to: "Deliver us from evil," where our heart-cry is to be kept by the power of God from the artful wiles and cunning schemes of the evil one who delights to shipwreck the faith and limit the effectiveness of all God's children.

And what a wonderful doxology at the end is a glorious hymn of worship and praise to the Lord God Almighty: "For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever, Amen."

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, I praise You for Who You are. May Your will be done in my life and Your purpose be fulfilled on earth, when Christ Jesus will reign as King of kings and bring peace to this war-torn world. Please provide for my daily needs, and forgive me for the times when I have not loved You as I should and depended on myself instead of trusting You. Help me to resist the temptations in life and to acknowledge my total dependence on You, especially in times of trials and testings. And keep me, I pray, from all the evil attacks of the enemy, for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever, AMEN.
