What Does John 7:29 Mean?

"I know Him, because I am from Him, and He sent Me."

John 7:29(NASB)

Verse of the Day

Earlier, John told us that God GAVE His only begotten Son to be the Saviour of the world, and here He tells us that God SENT His Son into the world. Later, this same beloved disciple gives the reason that God sent His Son into the world: "He was sent, so that we might live through Him." And just before His death, Jesus also revealed to His disciples: "I and the Father are one," one in unity, and one in Spirit.

The precious bond of unity between Father and Son is close, personal, intimate, and unique. It is one thing to know about God the Father, but it is an entirely different thing to KNOW the Father, to be SENT by Him, to be ENTRUSTED with a mission that has eternal consequences; an undertaking that touches the life of every member of humanity.

Christ was not simply born to be another member of the human race Who lived a good life and become an example of high moral standards and exemplary teachings. He was claiming to be God. And He is the Word made flesh: Prophet, Priest, and King.

The Lord Jesus is the ultimate Mediator between God and man, and a gift of God's grace to humanity. No wonder the incarnate God in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ, could state with authority, " I know Him, because I am from Him, and He sent Me."

May we learn from this precious bond between God the Father and God the Son, and strive to know Him, more and more, each day of our lives.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, I pray that I may know You more. Thank You for sending Your Son, my Saviour Jesus Christ, so that I might have life and be brought into close, personal, intimate fellowship with You. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.
