What Does 1 Peter 1:5 Mean?

Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

1 Peter 1:5(KJV)

Verse Thoughts

The promises of God to His children are 'yes' and 'amen' in Christ, and God has promised that we who are saved by grace through faith in Him, have a glorious inheritance that is being reserved for us in heaven.

But not only is this priceless, imperishable, and undefiled inheritance being kept safe for us in heavenly places, but God has further promised to protect each one of us in this life and guard us by His almighty power, until we reach that wonderful day when we receive our heavenly heritage.

It was faith in Christ's finished work that saved us when we first trusted in Him as Saviour. His shed blood paid the price for our sins (saving us from the penalty of sin), and His resurrected life which is imparted to us by His Spirit, made us a new creation in Christ (so that we are saved from the power of sin in our lives). And as God's children, we are called to live our life by faith in the Son of God Who loved us and gave Himself for us.

When we were born again, we were saved by faith in Christ. We were redeemed by the blood of the Lamb Who gave us His life - His resurrected life - His eternal life - and we were saved once and forever by faith.

But as we journey through our Christian life, we are also being saved. We are being sanctified and kept by the power of God. We are being conformed into the image and likeness of Christ Who has promised that He will keep us throughout our life by His mighty power. Even when we prove faithless to Him, He remains faithful to the promises that He made to us, and to all who trust Christ as Saviour.

Not only are we justified by faith and sanctified by faith, but one day we will also be glorified by grace through faith in Christ's sacrifice at Calvary. Today, we are being "kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."

Our spirit has been saved, making us alive with Christ. Our soul is being saved and is being transformed, day by day, into the image of Christ, and at His return we will be clothed in a new, eternal body when the trumpet sounds and the dead in Christ are raised incorruptible.

Praise God that our whole spirit, soul, and body is kept blameless until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let us live our lives as unto the Lord, as we abide in Him and He in us.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, how I praise and thank You that I am kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation, ready for that wonderful day when I will see You, face to face. Help me to live my life in a way that honours Your holy name. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.
