What Does 1 John 3:2 Mean?

Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.

1 John 3:2(NASB)

Verse of the Day

I really do wonder whether we have even started to grasp the enormity of our position in Christ; the incredible love, the peculiar privilege, and the gracious gift that we have received from our Father in heaven "that we should be called His children."

Not only are we called His children and have been permanently adopted into His family, by grace through faith in Christ, but we are told what we shall be in the future - for the day is coming when we shall see Him as He is and we will become like Him.

Our new birth is but the first step in an everlasting journey into eternal life. We are positioned in Christ, in union with Him, indwelled by the Holy Spirit, and accepted by God the Father in the Beloved, and it is all by grace through faith in Him.

The glorious plan of salvation starts with God's love and grace and continues into the eternal ages that are to come, for all His children: "For eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither has it entered into the heart of man, the wonderful things which God hath prepared for those that love Him."

Even here and now we are God's children, and yet it has not been disclosed or made clear exactly what we shall be hereafter. But this we do know; that when the Lord Jesus comes in clouds of great glory, with the shout of the archangel and the trumpet-call of God, the dead in Christ will rise first and then we who are alive and remain will be caught up into the clouds with them.

This we do know; that we shall see Him as He is, in all His splendour and glory, majesty and power, and on that day we will fully resemble His grace, His truth, and all His godly attributes and righteous character.

On that day we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He really is.

Amazing love, how can it be that Christ my God should die for me?

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your incredible grace and inestimable love that I should be called Your child. Thank You that Jesus came to earth and identified with my filthiness and sin so that I might be clothed in His purity and righteousness, positioned in Christ, in-dwelled by the Spirit, and accepted in the Beloved. And thank You that I have the amazing blessing to look forward to in heaven that I will see my precious Saviour as He is. In my glorified body I will be like Him and be fully able to worship Him in spirit and truth. What a glorious day. In Jesus' name, AMEN.
