What Does Colossians 1:16 Mean?

For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created through Him and for Him.

Colossians 1:16(NASB)

Verse of the Day

Christ is omnipotent God, the Creator of the universe, the second Person of the Trinity, the eternal Son of the living God Who was born into the human race to become the perfect Son of Man and our Kinsman-Redeemer. He become the sacrifice for all sin and the Saviour of all who would trust in His name: "For by Him and through Him and for Him all things were created."

Christ is the only begotten of the Father, the mighty God, the Messiah of Israel, the Prince of Peace, and Saviour of the world. He is the exact representation of the invisible God Whose throne is from everlasting to everlasting.

Christ is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last Who is before all things and by Whom all things consist and have their being. By Him and through Him and for Him all things were brought into existence. All things were fashioned and formed by Him: "Both in the heavens and on earth; visible and invisible; whether thrones, or dominions, or rulers, or authorities."

He created the heavenly host and is greater than every angelic being, for He is the wisdom of God, the power of God, and the express image of the invisible God. And yet to fulfil God's eternal plans and purposes, He was made a little lower than the angels for a time.

The Man Christ Jesus was both Son of God and Son of Adam. He was Son of Man, Son of Abraham, Son of David, and Son of Mary, the Seed of the woman, and the Lord of glory. He willingly consented to humble Himself by taking upon Himself the form of a servant. He was the Word made flesh, full of grace and truth Who learned obedience by the things that He suffered. And He was made in the likeness of men so that we might become the righteousness of God by grace through faith in Him: "And by Him and through Him and for Him all things were created and have their being."

And Christ has been given a name that is above every name - Jesus Christ the righteous - the unblemished Lamb of God Who, from the foundation of the world, was destined to be the Rock of our salvation, the Light of the world Who would bring hope to the Gentiles. He is the Bread of life, the hidden Manna, the true Vine, and the Tree of life. Jesus is the good Shepherd and He is the Way, and the Truth, and the Life.

Christ is our great High Priest and the King of kings. He is the unspeakable Gift of God and the first Begotten of the dead. He is the only Mediator between man and God Who ever lives to make intercession for us. He is the Consolation of Israel Who remains faithful and true to all God's promises for they are all 'yes' and 'amen' in Him. He is the Head over the Body which is the Church, and He is the Author and Finisher of our faith, for Christ is all in all: "By Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or rulers, or authorities, all things have been created by Him, and through Him, and for Him," to His praise and glory, amen and amen.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, when I consider the enormity of Who the Lord Jesus is and what He has done to save my soul, I stand in awe of You, knowing that He was wounded for my transgressions, bruised for my iniquities, and died on the Cross so that I might be forgiven of my sins, and rose again to give me His resurrected life. I humbly kneel before You in praise and grateful thanks, for He alone is worthy. In His name I pray, AMEN.
