What Does 1 Corinthians 15:47 Mean?

The first man is from the earth, earthy; the second man is from heaven.

1 Corinthians 15:47(NASB)

Verse Thoughts

There are two races of man. There are two types of human-kind. There are two distinct creations of humanity-two categories of people, and though we are all born into the first creation, where the first man, Adam was physically made from the dust of the earth, there is a second Man - the last Adam.

He is a heavenly Man, Who existed as God from all eternity, but Who was born into this world as the second Man, and yet He remained a true, physical descendent of the first man, Adam.

The first man, who became the federal head of humanity, was a natural man, made of the dust of the ground, and in every sense of the word, this first man was earth-bound. Adam was created innocent, and his physical form was passed on to all his earthly, yet earth-bound descendants. The sin nature he that was imputed to Adam because of his disobedience and rebellion has become the trade-mark of humanity. Like Adam we have the same nature as Adam, since we were formed of the dust of the earth in the beautiful garden of Eden.

But praise God that the second Man is a heavenly Man with a spiritual nature, a godly character and a life-giving Spirit, and all who are born of Him become heavenly people - a spiritual people, a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's own special possession-to the praise of His glory.

My Prayer

Thank You Father that You have given me life, eternal life-life more abundantly by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus - the second Man, Who came down from heaven to die for me. Thank You that in Him I have been forgiven of my sin and given a heavenly inheritance - all praise to His holy name, AMEN.
